The DevOps Engineer will work as part of the Infrastructure Engineering team supporting various applications in the office, AWS and our two data center locations. The DevOps Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: automation, build, package, dependency management, deployment, tools and monitoring, cloud computing and system topology design input.
Specific Duties:
- Mentor global teams of engineers in growing their knowledge and skill set
- Help lead initiatives for upgrading and scaling our systems to improve availability, reliability, and performance
- Passionate about Infrastructure as a Code
- Proficient on AWS Cloud (EC2, EC2 Container Service, S3, Elastic File System, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, RDS)
- Experience on build scripting like MAVEN/Gradle, etc.
- Experience on Version Control system (Github preferred)
- High proficiency with scripting using Python and Shell scripts
- Monitoring tool experience like Splunk/ Nagios/ Icinga
- Understanding on Application servers – Nginx etc.
- Experience with Centralized Log collection
- Management and analytics using Splunk/ELK
- Collaborate with technical leads to integrate an end-to-end design that’s well documented
- Write scripts to automate the provisioning and maintenance of systems in a distributed, virtualized infrastructure
- Work in an agile development environment, collaborating with Application Development and Architecture teams to implement and evolve solutions for a wide array of challenging projects
- Develop solutions for technology, process, people, and practices for build and release management, application lifecycle changes, operation service delivery and support using the technologies mentioned above
- Take an active role in developing the long-range highly available technical infrastructure and architecture plans for both on-premises and cloud (AWS) infrastructure
- Experiment with new technologies to optimize the reliability and performance of our software and hardware infrastructure
- Design and implement proactive monitoring to ensure health, performance, reliability, and security of our production and staging environments
- Plan automated backups and disaster recovery/failover configurations
- Troubleshoot and debug web and application servers for system and application issues
- Produce high quality installation and configuration documents
- Provide 24×7 on call rotation support for all supported technologies and be available in the rare case of a off-hours problem
Desired Profile:
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of experience working as DevOps Engineer
- 2+ years of experience working with AWS cloud computing
- Proficient with Unix/Linux terminal and Powershell console
- Fluency with DevOps toolchains such as Jenkins and Gitlab-CI
- Experience with version control system Git
- Proficient in Python plus one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Elixir, etc.
- Knowledge of both Linux and Windows operating systems
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal/written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally and courteously with end-users and co-workers
- Passion for learning new information and technologies
Good to have:
- Certified AWS Architect
- Experience with distributed applications using Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience with Terraform/Ansible or other configuration management tools
- Experience with web servers (e.g. IIS, NginX, or Apache)
- Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or SQL Server)
